MIRPUR (AJK) , (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point news - 27th Apr, 2026) AJK Inspector General of Police (IGP), retired Captain Liaquat Ali Malik categorically said here on Monday that general elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, due for this year-2026, will be held on time and police have started due preparations to facilitate for holding of the polls in free, fair and transparent manner, he added.

He was talking to journalists at Mirpur Range DIG Police office Monday afternoon. He was flanked by Deputy Inspector General Police Mirpur Range Kamran Ali Mughal, SSP Mirpur Khurram Iqbal Mughal and other senior officers of Mirpur division police.

He continued that the AJK Police was determined to ensure maintainable of peace and order, which, already prevails in AJK.

Responding to a question-cum suggestion raised by this APP AJK Correspondent, about proposed steps to discourage increased misuse of social media through different means and immediate formation of Social Media?Regulatory Authority in Azad Jammu Kashmir at the pattern of recent reportedly formed Social media Athority in Pakistan, the IGP said that AJK government would immediately be moved with the healthy proposals to constitute the Social Media Regulatory Authority in AJK.

Dr. Liaqat Ali directed Mirpur AJK SSP Khurram Iqbal to Draft the proposal for formation of the Social Media Regulatory Authority for onward submission to the AJK government.
