MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jun, 2026) The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has reaffirmed its commitment to preserving cultural heritage and promoting traditional sports, as a Kashmir Festival showcasing tent pegging and horse riding was held in the British city of Bradford, according to a message received and released to the media on Tuesday.
Zahid Mughal (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), Adviser to the Prime Minister of AJK and Central Secretary Information of the Pakistan Peoples Party UK chapter, attended the event as chief guest on behalf of the AJK government. Inaugurating the festival, he said the government would continue supporting initiatives aimed at safeguarding cultural traditions, encouraging young talent, and ensuring that future generations remain connected to their historical roots and heritage.
The festival brought together members of the Kashmiri diaspora and prominent figures from political, social, business and cultural circles.

Addressing participants, Mughal praised the organizers, including Sohail Kayani, Haseeb Arslan, Shakeel Khan and Waqas Zuroof, and presented commemorative shields in recognition of their efforts. He described tent pegging and horse riding as living symbols of centuries-old traditions, courage and skill, emphasizing that such cultural events strengthen national and regional identity while fostering discipline, physical fitness and a spirit of healthy competition among young people.
