AJK pays tribute to Fatima Jinnah on 59th death anniversary

MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jul, 2026) Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday marked the 59th death anniversary of Madar-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah with prayer gatherings and commemorative events, where speakers paid tribute to her enduring contribution to the Pakistan Movement and her lifelong commitment to democratic values and public service.

Special prayer meetings were held across the region, with participants offering *Fateha* for the departed soul and remembering her steadfast support for Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah during the struggle for the creation of Pakistan. Speakers highlighted her role in advocating for the rights of the people and her continued public service in the years following the country's independence.

Addressing a commemorative ceremony in Mirpur, Kashmir Press Club President Syed Abid Hussain Shah described Fatima Jinnah as a symbol of dedication, courage and national unity.

Other speakers, including former Kashmir Press Club presidents Altaf H. Nizami and Sajjad Hussain Jarral, said she earned the title *Madar-e-Millat* (Mother of the Nation) for her unwavering support of the Pakistan Movement and her contributions alongside the country's founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Born in 1893, Fatima Jinnah remained a prominent public figure and advocate of democratic principles throughout her life. Speakers said her legacy continues to inspire generations, remembering her as one of Pakistan's most respected national leaders whose services to the nation remain a lasting source of pride.
