MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore has reaffirmed his commitment to carrying forward the political legacy of his late father, Raja Mumtaz Hussain Rathore, saying his identity in politics is rooted in the brief but impactful tenure of his father’s government.

Addressing a ceremony hosted by the Kashmir Press Club Mirpur, the Prime Minister said his government had prioritized institutional reforms, public welfare, and restoration of political dignity during challenging times. He emphasized that practical steps, rather than mere announcements, had been taken to address public issues, including opening government offices to ensure greater public access.

Responding to demands from the journalist community, Rathore announced a two-kilometer paved road for Journalist Colony and approval of the PC-1 for construction of a new Press Club building.

He also announced a financial grant of Rs1 million for the Press Club, reiterating his government’s commitment to supporting media professionals.

The Prime Minister said his administration remained focused on public convenience, transparency, and fair elections despite facing difficult circumstances. He called for collective efforts to put the region on a path of development. On the occasion, Minister Chaudhry Yasir Sultan and Press Club President Syed Abid Hussain Shah also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of resolving journalists’ issues and improving media infrastructure.
