MIRPUR (AJK) , (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) Leaders of religious parties in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have described the sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces as a source of pride for the entire nation, while praising the country’s civil-military leadership for its “statesmanship” and foreign policy.
Addressing a news conference at the Kashmir Press Club, leaders of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) said Pakistan’s efforts to promote global peace were widely appreciated and paid tributes to officers and soldiers who laid down their lives for the country’s stability and integrity.
Chairman Sunni Ulema Mashaikh Council AJK, Mufti Muhammad Waseem Raza, Mufti Muhammad Aslam Naqshbandi, Allama Abdul Ghafoor Tabani, Alhaj Chaudhry Riaz Alam Advocate, Pir Syed Murad Ali Shah, Allama Abdul Khaliq Naqshbandi, Allama Hafiz Farooq Naqshbandi, Allama Pir Rizwan Chishti, Pir Sain Younis Haideri, Pir Muhammad Ijaz Chishti, Allama Khurshid Naqshbandi, Allama Qari Mubarak, Allama Abdul Rashid, Allama Qari Rafaqat Ali Naqshbandi, Qari Farooq Mujaddidi, Chaudhry Abdul Aziz Advocate, Allama Qazi Shafiqur Rehman, Allama Hafiz Hamid Kamal and Khalifa Abdul Samad spoke on the occasion.
The speakers said members of the ASWJ remained ready to defend every inch of the country.
Mufti Muhammad Waseem Raza said improving healthcare, education and road infrastructure would be top priorities in AJK.
He added that steps would be taken to implement a unified curriculum and strengthen the education sector and efforts would also be made to promote the ideology of Pakistan and eliminate sectarianism.
The leaders also announced their intention to participate in upcoming elections in a “full and organized manner” in consultation with religious scholars, heads of organizations, and custodians of shrines.
They said the role of Ahle Sunnah scholars and leaders in the creation of Pakistan remained a “bright chapter” in history, adding that their successors continued to support the country’s stability and the Kashmir cause.
Referring to the current global situation, the speakers said Pakistan’s image as a peace-promoting country had improved, making the upcoming elections in AJK particularly significant.
The leaders also pledged to continue efforts to protect religious beliefs, including the finality of prophethood, while recognizing the contributions of political parties.
They reiterated their commitment to national unity, interfaith harmony and the development of the region.
