ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-June 27th, 2026) Aleema Khan, the sister of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), alleging that her brother is being held in unlawful solitary confinement at Adiala Jail.

The petition, submitted through Barrister Salman Safdar, Names the superintendent of Adiala Jail, the inspector general of prisons, the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the director general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and the executive director of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) as respondents.

According to the petition, Imran Khan informed his legal counsel during a meeting on April 8 that he had been confined to his cell for 22 hours each day. It further alleges that his wife, Bushra Bibi, has remained confined for 24 hours a day.

The plea also claims that neither family members nor PTI representatives have been allowed to meet Imran Khan over the past six months.

Aleema Khan contended that no court order or judgment authorises solitary confinement as part of the sentence awarded to the former prime minister. She argued that the conditions of his detention are unlawful and violate his fundamental rights.

The petition further stated that Imran Khan told his lawyer his eyesight had deteriorated significantly while in custody. It maintained that the prolonged solitary confinement is among the harshest forms of imprisonment and was never included in the punishment imposed by any court.

The petitioner asked the Islamabad High Court to declare the alleged solitary confinement illegal and direct the relevant authorities to end the practice.

She also sought appropriate relief to ensure that Imran Khan is provided facilities and treatment in accordance with the law and prison regulations.
