LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2026) Punjab Minister for Housing & Urban Development Bilal Yaseen has said that the benchmark for the cities and villages of Punjab is to outperform last year’s cleanliness and operational performance.
He said this while addressing a press conference at the WASA Headquarters regarding preparations for Eid-ul-Azha.
WASA Vice Chairman Chaudhry Shehbaz and WASA MD Ghafran Ahmad, were also present.
Bilal Yaseen stated that after the performance of the sacrifice, Sunnah of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S), heaps of animal waste accumulate in streets and neighborhoods. He said, "Maintaining cleanliness during these days across Punjab is a major challenge."
On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, all cabinet members and officials would remain active in the field, he added. He further said that animal waste would be collected from every doorstep during all three days of Eid.
The uninterrupted supply of gas, electricity, and water would also be ensured, he said and clarified that all WASA employees’ leaves have been canceled, and continuous operations would be ensured throughout the three days.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>WASA operations would begin immediately after Eid-ul-Azha prayers with field monitoring activities.
He further stated, "Establishing WASA services in 41 districts within one year is due to the efforts of the Punjab Chief Minister."
Bilal said, "Punjab is a province of 140 million people, and the purpose of fines is to ensure implementation of the law."
He also stated that banned organizations are completely prohibited from collecting animal hides during Eid-ul-Azha.
The Punjab Home Department has issued detailed directives regarding proscribed organizations.
Bilal Yaseen appealed to citizens to use water responsibly and in moderation. He warned that strict action would be taken against those throwing animal waste into canals and open drains.
