All set for anti-polio drive in selected districts of KP

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th May, 2026) Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has finalized all arrangements for May round of Sub-National Immunization Days (SNIDs) which is set to commence in selected districts of the province from May 18.

This decision was taken in a high-level meeting held at Provincial EOC which was convened to give final touch to the arrangements made for the campaign.

The meeting was chaired by Additional Secretary Health & EOC Coordinator Shafiullah Khan and attended by officials of health department as well as the representatives of UNICEF, WHO and other relevant stakeholders.

The meeting was informed that during this four-days campaign polio drops will be administered to more than 4.6 million children under the age of five in 23 selected districts of the province.

The campaign will be launched simultaneously in all districts of Bannu and D.I Khan divisions, District Abbottabad, Torghar, Kohistan Lower, Kohistan Upper, Kolai Palas, Bajaur, Dir Lower, Mohmand, Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Khyber, Kohat, Hangu, Kurram, and Karak.

In district Peshawar and Khyber, the campaign will continue for seven days till May 24.

Sharing details of the arrangements made for successful implementation of this campaign, the meeting was informed that 22,450 teams of trained polio workers including 20,507 mobile teams, 1,113 fixed teams and 830 transit teams have been deployed to administer polio drops to children in the selected districts. Besides, 5?444 area in --charges have also been appointed for the vigilant supervision of these teams to make sure that all children in the target areas are administered with polio vaccines.

In order to ensure foolproof security of the polio teams during this campaign, approximately 35,000 security personnel have been deployed in the target areas.
