BEIJING, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jun, 2026) Marking the 75th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations, the China-Pakistan all-weather partnership has transcended conventional political affinity to become a core driving force for Pakistan’s economic revitalization.

Amid lingering global inflation, Currency volatility and weak external demand, Pakistan’s post-crisis economic rebound has been steadily anchored by China’s targeted, result-focused economic engagement, which prioritizes tangible progress over symbolic pledges.

This news stated by Prof Cheng Xizhong, Senior Research Fellow at the Charhar Institute, a non-governmental Chinese think-tank on diplomacy and international studies based in Beijing.

He said that distinct from conventional Western aid models that often attach political strings, China’s cooperation focuses on fostering Pakistan’s endogenous economic vitality, helping the country break free from its long-term predicaments of trade deficits and industrial inertia.

The upgraded second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC 2.0) represents a pivotal strategic shift from traditional infrastructure development to industrial incubation, green transformation and trade upgrading. This refined framework precisely targets Pakistan’s most pressing economic bottlenecks: insufficient manufacturing capacity, low export competitiveness and unbalanced industrial structures, he added.

Prof Cheng said that a standout feature of current bilateral ties lies in people-centered economic stabilization. China has broadened market access for Pakistani staple exports, including basmati rice, seasonal fruits, textiles and leather products, effectively boosting Pakistan’s export revenues and foreign exchange reserves. Such pragmatic market support eases the country’s balance-of-payments pressures and delivers sustainable liquidity for its domestic economic stability amid a turbulent global financial landscape.

Furthermore, in-depth industrial and agricultural cooperation helps Pakistan build self-reliant industrial and supply chains. Sino-Pak agricultural technology partnerships have optimized local planting techniques, improved crop yields and reduced commodity import dependence. Operational special economic zones have drawn quality investment, generated stable local employment, and nurtured competitive domestic enterprises for global markets, he added.

Against rising global economic uncertainties and fragmented regional geopolitics, China-Pakistan economic cooperation remains inclusive, sustainable and free of geopolitical manipulation. As a reliable stabilizer for Pakistan’s economic recovery, the all-weather friendship empowers the country to pursue independent, high-quality and self-driven economic development, setting an exemplary model for equitable South-South cooperation worldwide, he added.
