BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st May, 2026) A grand ceremony was organized at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) to pay rich tributes to the poet of the East, Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
According to an official press release issued by the IUB here, as per the instructions of the Higher education Commission, the event was organized by the varsity. The guest speaker of the ceremony, Dr. Asma Rani, President of the Department of Urdu, Government Sadiq College, Women's University of Bahawalpur, highlighted the importance of Allama Iqbal's thoughts and said that the young generation should make Iqbal's philosophy of self a part of their practical lives.
Dr. Asif Nadeem served as the chief judge in the competitions. Other judges included Dr. Ramzan Tahir, Mohsin Raza, Alina Tariq Chohan and Muhammad Ammar.
In urdu essay writing that was written on the life and philosophy of Allama Iqbal, Abdul Waheed won first position, Muhammad Mazhar won second position, and Hiba Liaquat won third position.
In English essay writing, Waqar Mehboob Khan, Hassan Habib, and Ayesha Namkeen won first, second, and third positions respectively.
In Urdu debate, Shaiza, Mabrouk, and Amara Malik showed outstanding performance, while in English debate, Amna Asad, Mah Noor, and Abdul Samad won first, second, and third positions.
