ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jul, 2026) The Crime Control Department (CCD) Attock has arrested an alleged gang leader wanted in multiple armed robbery, highway robbery and motorcycle theft cases after an exchange of fire during a late-night checkpoint operation near Nawa petrol Pump on Dhoke Jaunda Road in the jurisdiction of Saddar Attock police station, officials said on Thursday.

According to a CCD spokesperson, officers attempted to stop suspicious individuals at a checkpoint when they came under fire. During the exchange, the main suspect, identified as Ayaz Khan, a resident of Dargai in Malakand who was reportedly living in Tarnol, Islamabad, was arrested with injuries. No police personnel were hurt in the operation.

Police alleged that the suspect headed a gang involved in a series of armed robberies, highway robberies and motorcycle thefts, particularly in Fateh Jang tehsil.

Investigators linked him to a 2023 robbery in the New Airport Road police jurisdiction in which a motorcycle, mobile phones and cash were allegedly stolen, as well as a 2026 armed robbery at a restaurant near Tarati Bridge. He is also wanted, police said, in connection with the theft of a motorcycle belonging to a mosque imam on Rawalpindi Road and several other robbery cases.

The injured suspect was shifted to hospital under police custody for treatment, while legal proceedings have been initiated. CCD officials said raids are continuing to apprehend the suspect's alleged accomplices. Police said the investigation is ongoing, and the allegations against the accused will be tested through the judicial process.
