Amanpreet Gill, a former India U-19 Teammate of Kohli, dies at 36

Amanpreet Singh Gill, a former Punjab cricketer, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, at the age of 36, leaving the cricketing fraternity in deep shock.

Amanpreet Singh Gill was a dynamic and dedicated fast bowler who represented Punjab in domestic cricket. Alongside players like Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey, he played for India in the 2007 Under-19 Tri-Series in Sri Lanka, taking nine wickets in the competition, including a match-winning effort against Bangladesh in the final.

Following the news of his demise, former India star Yuvraj Singh shared a tribute on X.

“Deeply saddened to hear about Amanpreet Singh Gill’s passing. Shared the dressing room in our early days, he was a quiet, hardworking cricketer who loved the game. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace. Om Shanti”

The Punjab Cricket Association expressed its condolences, remembering him for his dedication both on and off the field. His last rites were scheduled to take place at the Manimajra Cremation Ground in Chandigarh later that day.

The cause of his death has not been disclosed, with the cricket community choosing to focus on celebrating his life and contributions to the sport.
