Ambassador Tirmizi esteems Russia’s interfaith harmony, praises Russian Orthodox Church’s role

MOSCOW, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Apr, 2026) Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi on Wednesday met with Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church.

During the meeting, Ambassador Tirmizi highly valued the long-standing tradition of interfaith harmony in Russia, noting it as a successful model of peaceful coexistence and specifically lauded the efforts of the Russian Orthodox Church in fostering this environment.

The meeting focused on the vital role of inter-religious cooperation for strengthening the ties between the nations.

Ambassador Tirmizi and Metropolitan Anthony exchanged views on the deep-rooted similarities between islam and Orthodox Christianity, especially reflected in the shared values, views on the traditional family unity and moral and ethical upbringing of the younger generation.
