LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 23rd, 2026) A Pakistan Super League encounter turned tense on Thursday when a verbal clash broke out between Mohammad Amir and Faheem Ashraf during a match between Rawalpindiz and Islamabad United at the National Bank Stadium.

The confrontation occurred on the third ball of the 17th over. Amir delivered a slower bouncer that Faheem attempted to upper-cut but instead edged it behind to wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan. Following the dismissal, Amir celebrated aggressively and gestured towards the pavilion, prompting a sharp reaction from Faheem, who advanced towards the bowler while pointing his bat.

The situation escalated briefly before teammates Asif Afridi and Saad Masood intervened to separate the two and calm tensions.

Earlier in the match, Rawalpindiz’s decision to field first proved effective as they restricted Islamabad United to 137 runs in 20 overs. The innings began slowly, with openers Devon Conway and Sameer Minhas struggling to accelerate.

Amir provided the early breakthrough by dismissing Minhas for six, ending a 20-run opening stand. Naseem Shah then removed Mohammad Faiq, while Saad Masood accounted for Shadab Khan, leaving Islamabad reeling at 30-3.

Conway attempted to stabilize the innings alongside Mark Chapman, adding 49 runs before Daryl Mitchell broke the partnership by removing Conway for 40. Chapman soon followed after scoring 23, dismissed by Asif Afridi.

Middle-order resistance remained limited as wickets fell regularly, including Haider Ali and Faheem Ashraf. Late hitting from Chris Green, who scored 29, helped push the total past 100 before he was run out in the final over.

Dian Forrester wrapped up the innings by removing Mohammad Hasnain for a duck and dismissing Richard Gleeson to claim his second wicket.
