ANF arrests 10 suspects, seizes over 52 kg drugs in nationwide operations

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th May, 2026) The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Friday conducted eight operations across the country and arrested 10 suspects, recovering 52.67 kilograms of narcotics worth more than Rs 7 million.

According to an ANF Headquarters spokesperson, the operations were carried out around educational institutions and in different cities as part of the ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking.

In operations linked to educational institutions, ANF teams recovered 625 grams of hashish and 178 grams of weed from three vehicles near Central Park DHA in Islamabad and arrested five suspects.

In another raid near Farooq-e-Azam Chowk in Karachi, officials seized 300 grams of ice from a rickshaw and arrested one suspect.

The arrested suspects confessed during initial interrogation to supplying drugs to students of educational institutions, the spokesperson said.

In international interdiction operations at Islamabad International Airport, ANF recovered 1.

030 kg of ice from the luggage of a passenger travelling to Bahrain and arrested the accused. In a separate operation at the same airport, another 1.032 kg of ice was recovered from the luggage of a second passenger bound for Bahrain.

Meanwhile, at a courier office in Lahore, officials recovered 805 grams of cannabinoid soaked in a photocopy book from a parcel destined for Dubai.

During domestic operations, ANF teams intercepted a truck near GT Road in Attock and recovered 7.7 kg of hashish while arresting two suspects.

In another operation near Sorgli in Dalbandin, authorities recovered 35 kg of opium concealed in bushes.

Separately, ANF officials recovered 6 kg of ice concealed in solar lights packed inside three parcels at a courier office in Karkhano Market, Peshawar.

The spokesperson said cases had been registered against the accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, and further investigations were underway.
