Animal pairing begins for breeding at Lahore Zoo

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Apr, 2026) Important steps have been taken for breeding of rare and wild animals in Lahore Zoo.

According to Wildlife official sources, the process of pairing animals has been accelerated, a male hippopotamus from South Africa has reached the zoo.

The administration says that practical steps are underway to convert the solitary animals in the zoo into pairs.

In this regard, lions and tigers are also being kept in pairs so that their breeding can be made possible.

According to officials, the white rhinoceros is still waiting for a partner, while suitable pairs are also being found for leopards, jaguars and other rare animals.

Wildlife officials say the aim of these measures is not only to promote natural reproduction of animals but also to preserve rare species in the zoo.
