Another mpox case reported in Karachi

Hospital officials stated that patient had no recent history of international travel.

Another case of mpox has been reported in Karachi, taking the total number of confirmed infections in the city to 10.

According to reports, a 40-year-old resident of Gulistan-e-johar tested positive for the virus. The patient has been shifted to the isolation ward at NIPA Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment and being closely monitored by medical staff.

Hospital officials stated that the patient had no recent history of international travel, suggesting the infection may have been locally acquired. The diagnosis was confirmed through a PCR test conducted by the hospital laboratory.

Authorities further said that this is the seventh mpox case reported at NIPA Hospital so far, as health teams continue surveillance and response measures to prevent further spread of the disease in the city.
