LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Mar, 2026) The Punjab Home Department has strengthened provincial security by equipping Civil Defence with a modern EMG-150 anti-drone gun capable of neutralising hostile drones within a range of 2 to 3 kilometers, marking a significant step to safeguard national airspace.

According to Home Department spokesperson, the advanced anti-drone gun has been provided to Punjab Civil Defence to counter potential aerial threats. The EMG-150 system can effectively jam and disable enemy drones mid-air, forcing them to land or crash by disrupting their control signals.

The first anti-drone gun has been handed over to Rawalpindi Division, while the Home Department plans to supply similar equipment across the province. Civil Defence personnel, including Bomb Disposal and Anti-Drone squads, are also undergoing specialised training for effective utilisation of the system.

A spokesperson said that the lightweight 6-kilogram device is equipped with eight frequency bands, enabling it to target and neutralise various types of drones. The system features a high-gain directional antenna for precise targeting and can jam GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, and BeiDou signals.

The anti-drone gun operates with a powerful jamming system of up to 200 watts output and can function in temperatures ranging from minus 22 to 65 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for diverse environmental conditions.

During a ceremony held at the Home Department, Secretary Home Punjab Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi handed over the equipment to Director Civil Defence Tasneem Ali Khan. Special Secretary Home Zainab Khan, IG Prisons Mian Farooq Nazir, and other officials were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ahmed Javed said that the capacity of Civil Defence was being enhanced in line with the vision of the chief minister Punjab and modern security requirements. He added that the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) would manufacture more anti-drone systems for deployment across the province.

He emphasised that protection of life and property of citizens remained the government’s top priority, adding that the new system would also help secure sensitive installations.
