Anti-polio campaign kicks off in Hyderabad, security arrangements finalized, Michael Galway reviews preparations

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) The Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Zain-ul-Abideen Memon on Monday formally inaugurated a seven day anti-polio campaign at CDF Hospital.

A representative of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Michael Galway attended the ceremony and reviewed the campaign arrangements.

According to a handout issued by the information department, Michael Galway praised the planning and preparedness of the anti-polio drive in the district and stressed the need to further strengthen the reporting of refusal, absentee and missed cases.

On this occasion, the deputy commissioner Memon directed the concerned authorities to ensure that all children up to five years of age are administered anti-polio drops, with special focus on refusal and missed cases.

He said that vigorous efforts were being made in Hyderabad as part of global polio eradication initiatives and emphasized the need to further mobilize field teams for effective implementation of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad police have finalized foolproof security arrangements for the campaign. SSP Shahzeb Chachar told that all possible security measures are being ensured during the campaign. Under the security plan, a total of 1,737 police personnel have been deployed, with additional force deployed to sensitive areas.

According to a police spokesperson, the Quick Response Force (QRF) has been placed on high alert to handle any emergency, while all operations are being continuously monitored from the central control room.
