Anti-polio campaign starts in KP amid tight security

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) A four-day anti-polio campaign has officially begun across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday, aiming to vaccinate millions of children against the crippling disease.

According to officials, the campaign will continue from April 13 to April 16 and will cover all districts of the province, including Peshawar. A comprehensive security plan has been put in place to ensure the safety of vaccination teams.

More than 35,500 teams have been deployed for the campaign, with a target of administering polio drops to approximately 6.5 million children.

Authorities have also assigned around 50,000 police personnel to provide security to the teams, ensuring that the campaign is carried out smoothly and safely.

Officials said that these extensive security arrangements have been made to protect health workers and guarantee uninterrupted vaccination efforts throughout the province.

The campaign is part of ongoing national efforts to eradicate polio and protect children from lifelong disability.

Health officials have urged parents to cooperate fully with vaccination teams and ensure that their children receive polio drops during the ongoing campaign.
