ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Apr, 2026) In Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed grave concern over the escalating suffering, bloodshed and uncertainty in the middle East, stressing that lasting peace in the region is unattainable without addressing the longstanding occupation of Palestine in line with international law and the principles of natural justice.
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing the Friday congregation at Srinagar' historic Jamia Masjid, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressed deep concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Middle East. He highlighted the ongoing loss of innocent lives, widespread fear, and the displacement of entire populations in Palestine, Lebanon, and Iran.
Criticizing Israel’s continued aggression, supported by the United States despite ceasefire commitments, Mirwaiz condemned the violence and urged for an end to the bloodshed.
He also praised the diplomatic efforts led by Pakistan, along with support from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt, to de-escalate tensions and promote peace. "We pray these efforts bear fruit as the whole world is looking to them to bring peace and stability," he said.
Mirwaiz also lauded the stand taken by Pope Leo, describing it commendable, and urged religious leaders across the world to unite behind such efforts for global peace and justice.
He emphasized that during such a grave global crisis, it is not only important but the responsibility of religious and spiritual figures across all communities and faiths to speak in one voice for humanity.
“They must stand up to power, condemn war and aggression, and advocate for peace, dialogue, and justice as the only viable path forward,” he said.
Referring to the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that as pilgrims embark on their blessed journey to Baitullah, prayers are with them for safety and acceptance of their Hajj. He noted this year’s Hajj comes at a time when the world, especially the Middle East, is passing through a period of deep turmoil.
“In such a time, Hajj is not merely an individual act of worship but a collective moment for the Muslim Ummah to raise its voice before Allah for peace and justice. It represents the moral conscience of the Muslim Ummah,” he added.
