Ashura: 113 processions, 33 Majalis held

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jun, 2026) On the occasion of the 10th of Muharram, a total of 113 processions and 33 Majalis were held

in six tehsils of the district on Friday.

According to official sources in the police department, more than 2,445 police officers and personnel were deployed to provide foolproof security in Bahawalpur region. They said that considering the security sensitivity of the events, five processions have been placed in Category A as well five processions have been classified as Category B and one Majlis has been placed in Category B while all remaining processions and Majalis have been categorized as Category C.

To maintain law and order and ensure the safety of mourners participating in the processions and gatherings, comprehensive security arrangements were made throughout the district.

Strict monitoring, route inspections, and comprehensive security measures were ensured for all processions and gatherings. The district police, Special Branch Punjab Police, and other law enforcement agencies performed their security duties.
