Assistive devices distributed among more than 200 PWDs

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jun, 2026) The National Disability and Development Forum (NDF) Pakistan, in collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), Government of Sindh, distributed assistive devices among more than 200 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in a ceremony held here in Nawabshah on Tuesday.

During the ceremony, wheelchairs, tricycles, tricycle motorcycles, electric wheelchairs, walkers, and crutches were distributed to enhance mobility, independence, and quality of life of PWDs.

Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani, and Regional Director DEPD, Nisar Ahmed Brohi, attended the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Abid Lashari, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, President NDF Pakistan, said that NDF has always remained committed to welfare, rehabilitation, and social inclusion of persons with disabilities. He emphasized that access to assistive devices was essential for enabling persons with disabilities to participate fully and independently in society.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Samad Nizamani and Regional Director Nisar Ahmed Brohi appreciated the joint efforts of four Government of Sindh and NDF Pakistan.

They said that such initiatives were instrumental in empowering persons with disabilities and enabling them to become active, productive, and dignified members of society.

They emphasized that persons with disabilities were equal stakeholders in society and have the right to equal opportunities in every sphere of life. “It is truly heartening to witness the joy and satisfaction on the faces of the beneficiaries today,” they remarked.

Among those attended the ceremony were Election Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Yousuf Majeedano, NADRA Zonal Incharge Rafiq Ahmed Buller, Mudasar Domki DHO, Assistant Director Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Shehzado Jiskani, NDF Program Manager Tariq Hussain Channar, Abdul Hameed Arain, Waris Noonari, Lal Chand, Akram Khaskheli, and other distinguished guests.

At the conclusion, the participants highly appreciated the collaborative efforts of NDF Pakistan and the Government of Sindh and stressed the need to continue such programs for welfare, rehabilitation, and empowerment of persons with disabilities.
