LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday acquitted four accused, including three police officials, in a kidnapping-for-ransom case after the complainant retracted his statement during trial proceedings.
During the hearing, the complainant appeared before the court and recorded his statement, declaring that the accused were not involved and that he had no objection to their acquittal.
In light of the revised statement, ATC Judge Shahid Sikandar ordered the acquittal of all four accused.
The acquitted individuals included Atif, Tauqeer, Muhammad Ali, and Wajid. Among them, Atif, Tauqeer, and Muhammad Ali are serving police constables.
According to the initial prosecution case, the accused had allegedly kidnapped two citizens, identified as Hafiz Nadeem and Shahid, and received Rs700,000 as ransom. The case was registered at Raiwind City Police Station.
