An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday extended the interim bail of former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry till May 7 in five cases related to arson and violent protests

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday extended the interim bail of former Federal minister Fawad Chaudhry till May 7 in five cases related to arson and violent protests.

ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill heard the petitions. The accused did not appear before the court upon expiry of his interim bail.

His counsel, Zafar Iqbal Mangan, filed an application seeking exemption from personal appearance, stating that his client was unable to attend due to proceedings at the Islamabad High Court.

The lawyer requested the court to grant a one-day exemption, which was taken on record, while the court also sought arguments on the bail pleas at the next hearing.

Fawad Chaudhry is accused of inciting party workers to engage in arson and attacks on police during May-9 unrest.

The cases have been registered at Sarwar Road, Race Course, and Mughalpura police stations.
