ATC extends interim bails of PTI leaders in May 9 cases

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday extended the interim bails of PTI founder’s sisters Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, former federal ministers Fawad Chaudhry and Asad Umar, Senator Azam Khan Swati, and several other party leaders in cases related to the May 9 riots, including the burning of the PML-N office and torching of containers at Kalma Chowk

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday extended the interim bails of PTI founder’s sisters Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, former Federal ministers Fawad Chaudhry and Asad Umar, Senator Azam Khan Swati, and several other party leaders in cases related to the May 9 riots, including the burning of the PML-N office and torching of containers at Kalma Chowk.

Duty Judge Manzer Ali Gill conducted the proceedings and extended the interim bails of the accused till June 11. The court also directed defence counsel to complete arguments on the bail petitions at the next hearing.

During the hearing, Aleema Khan did not appear before the court. Her counsel filed an application seeking one-day exemption from personal appearance, stating that she was in Islamabad in connection with cases involving the PTI founder.

The court accepted the request for exemption.

Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry also remained absent, while his lawyers sought exemption from appearance for one day. However, Uzma Khan appeared before the court.

Former federal minister Asad Umar, Senator Azam Khan Swati and several other PTI leaders and workers attended the hearing.

The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) investigation officers have already submitted their report before the court, declaring Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan and other accused guilty in the cases under investigation.

Among those who have filed interim bail petitions are Azam Khan Swati, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, Hafiz Farhat Abbas, Bilal Ejaz, Rai Hassan Nawaz, Ali Imtiaz Warraich, Muhammad Ahmad Chattha, Muhammad Ashraf Sohna and Rai Murtaza Iqbal, along with several others.
