Attack on Attock police team leaves detained suspect injured

ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) A police team from Pindigheb police station came under attack on Wednesday by unidentified armed assailants while transporting a detained suspect in a robbery case, leaving the suspect injured while all police personnel remained safe.

According to police sources, the team was returning after conducting a recovery operation linked to a robbery investigation when their official vehicle developed a tyre fault, forcing officers to stop by the roadside.

During the stop, unidentified gunmen allegedly opened fire on the police party.

Police officials retaliated in self-defence and to maintain custody of the suspect. During the exchange of fire, the detained suspect sustained injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Police said no personnel were injured in the attack and all members of the police team remained unharmed.

Authorities further stated that the injured suspect was already wanted in multiple criminal cases.

A search operation has been launched to trace and arrest the attackers, while further investigation into the incident is underway.
