Attock administration implements emergency heatwave relief measures

ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) In line with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Attock district administration has launched emergency measures to provide relief to citizens amid the ongoing intense heatwave, officials said on Thursday.

According to the district administration, all Assistant Commissioners and Chief Officers across the district have been instructed to immediately arrange shade facilities at major intersections, markets and public places in Attock city and all tehsils. Water points were also being established to ensure the availability of clean and cold drinking water for the public.

The administration has directed the management of wagon stands, bus terminals and railway stations to provide cold drinking water, fans and air coolers for passengers. District administration teams would conduct inspections to monitor the implementation of these measures.

Government offices throughout the district have also been instructed to offer cold drinking water to visitors and maintain proper shaded waiting areas for citizens.

Special arrangements have been ordered at schools conducting summer camps, where authorities have been directed to ensure uninterrupted availability of drinking water, fans and cooling facilities for students and teaching staff.

Meanwhile, Attock Traffic Police have been advised not to stop motorcyclists unnecessarily under the scorching sun. Traffic officials have also been instructed to avoid halting motorcycles carrying families and children during peak heat hours unless absolutely necessary.

Deputy Commissioner Attock urged residents to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during extreme temperatures and follow safety precautions to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses. He emphasized the need to take special care of children, women and elderly citizens, stating that preventive measures remained the best protection against the ongoing heatwave.

The district administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring public convenience and implementing the Chief Minister’s directives in letter and spirit during the prevailing weather conditions.
