ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting of the District Coordination Committee (DCC) at the DC Office to review the district’s law and order situation and progress on key enforcement and public service initiatives. The meeting was attended by District Police Officer (DPO) Sardar Mawarhan Khan, officers of law enforcement agencies, Assistant Commissioners, heads of district departments, and other senior officials. Participants examined traffic management, anti-encroachment operations, measures against electricity theft, illegal petrol pumps and LPG decanting, seminary registration, anti-beggary drives, repatriation of illegal foreign nationals, overseas Pakistanis’ complaints, and public awareness campaigns.
Officials informed the meeting that robust enforcement efforts during May 2026 yielded significant results. A total of 6,203 traffic challans were issued, generating fines exceeding Rs.11.7 million. Authorities sealed 31 illegal petrol pumps and recovered Rs.302,500 in penalties, while action against unlawful LPG decanting led to 53 reported violations, sealing of 64 points, registration of seven cases, and fines amounting to Rs.135,000. The anti-encroachment campaign removed 15 permanent and 915 temporary encroachments, recovering Rs.420,000 in fines. Meanwhile, anti-electricity theft operations uncovered 19 illegal connections, resulting in 12 FIRs, 10 arrests, and penalties totaling more than Rs.1.08 million.
The committee was further briefed on security and regulatory measures across the district.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Police checking operations at major highways and entry-exit points inspected 14,212 suspicious vehicles, leading to the arrest of nine suspects and registration of eight cases. Regarding seminaries, officials reported that out of 493 madaris in Attock, 199 have been registered, while geo-tagging of 28 institutions has been completed, with instructions issued to accelerate registration of the remaining seminaries. The anti-beggary campaign, conducted by six special teams, resulted in the detention of 20 professional beggars. The meeting was also informed that 336 out of 393 complaints lodged by overseas Pakistanis had been successfully resolved.
Reviewing the repatriation process of illegal foreign nationals, officials stated that 30,394 individuals had been repatriated from Attock during various phases, while 40 remain housed at the holding centre.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza emphasized that maintaining law and order, ensuring swift resolution of public grievances, and enforcing the law without compromise remain top priorities under the directives of the Punjab Government. He directed all departments to strengthen coordination and intensify efforts to improve public service delivery. DPO Sardar Mawarhan Khan reaffirmed the commitment of police and law enforcement agencies to preventing crime and safeguarding citizens, adding that surveillance and monitoring of sensitive locations were being further enhanced to ensure lasting peace and security in the district.
