Attock registers five child labour cases as district administration intensifies enforcement

Authorities in Attock have intensified their campaign against child labour, registering five criminal cases against employers during the past month for violating child labour laws, as the district administration reaffirmed a zero-tolerance policy towards child labour, bonded labour and workplace safety violations

ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jul, 2026) Authorities in Attock have intensified their campaign against child labour, registering five criminal cases against employers during the past month for violating child labour laws, as the district administration reaffirmed a zero-tolerance policy towards child labour, bonded labour and workplace safety violations.

The progress was reviewed at a meeting of the District Vigilance Committee (DVC) on Thursday, chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Aneel Saeed at the Deputy Commissioner's Office. The committee assessed ongoing enforcement efforts and discussed measures to strengthen compliance with labour laws across the district.

Assistant Director Labour and Human Resource Adnan Saleem told the meeting that five First Information Reports (FIRs) had been registered against the owners of five establishments for employing child labour. He said routine inspections of industrial and commercial units were continuing to ensure compliance with labour laws, particularly those relating to occupational health, workplace safety and workers' welfare.

The committee also reviewed the implementation of occupational safety regulations, accident prevention measures, workers' registration with the Social Security Department and other labour welfare initiatives.

Addressing the meeting, Aneel Saeed directed the Labour and Human Resource Department to strictly enforce laws relating to child labour, bonded labour and occupational health and safety. He said protecting the health, safety and rights of workers remained a top priority of the district administration and warned that legal action would continue against individuals and businesses found violating labour regulations.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the District Child Protection and Welfare Bureau, the Pakistan Workers Federation, the Social Security Department, the Brick Kiln Workers Union, Taxila Cotton Mills and other government departments and stakeholders.
