Austerity in Punjab Assembly, speaker grounds 25 protocol vehicles

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Mar, 2026) The austerity campaign is being strictly implemented in the Punjab Assembly, while 25 protocol vehicles of the assembly were grounded on the instructions of Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan.

According to sources, only essential lights are being lit in the assembly, while electrical appliances have been completely switched off, along with lights, unnecessary air conditioners have also been switched off.

The speaker has already announced not to take any benefits or salary.

Petrol of committee chairmen has also been reduced by 70 percent, while the petrol of senior officers has been reduced by 50 percent, which is expected to save Rs 0.7 to 1 million per month in petrol.

In addition, a roster of 50 percent rotation-wise duty of assembly employees has also been issued to ensure resource efficiency.
