Awareness event organized in connection with WED

QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Jun, 2026) In connection with World Environment Day (WED) 2026, a comprehensive awareness event was jointly organized by the Balochistan Environmental Protection Agency (BEPA) and Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMC) at the BEPA Head Office in Quetta.

The event was graced by Director General BEPA, Zahoor Baloch, as the Chief Guest. The program featured an environmental awareness session, a tree plantation campaign, and a walk aimed at promoting climate change mitigation and environmental protection.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from all segments of society, particularly students and youth from various schools, reflecting a collective commitment towards environmental sustainability.

In his inaugural address, Zahoor Baloch emphasized the growing importance of environmental protection in light of the unprecedented global climate challenges.

He highlighted the need for collective action to address climate change, conserve natural resources, and promote sustainable development.

To commemorate the occasion, the Chief Guest also participated in a tree plantation activity.

During the awareness session, speakers, especially students, delivered insightful presentations on environmental conservation and climate change.

They stressed the importance of environmental education, community awareness, and adopting practical measures to safeguard the environment in accordance with international environmental standards and best practices.

A key highlight of the event was the “Walk for Environmental Protection,” jointly organized by BEPA officials, RDMC representatives, teachers, and students from Creater school and Fountain School. Participants carried placards and banners conveying messages about environmental responsibility, climate resilience, and the importance of preserving ecosystems for future generations.

The event concluded with a renewed pledge by all stakeholders to work collectively towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Balochistan and Pakistan.
