SANGHAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) The Department of Social Welfare Sanghar organized an awareness seminar in connection with International Labour Day, aimed at educating workers about their fundamental rights and legal protections.
The event was held at the Legal Aid Society office on the directives of Sindh Minister for Social Welfare, Mir Tariq Khan Talpur, and was organized by Additional Director Social Welfare Shafqat Hussain Solangi. The seminar was attended by legal experts, social workers, and a large number of members of the labour community.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Solangi, along with Muhammad Azeem Ronjho and other speakers, emphasized that workers are the backbone of any society and that safeguarding their rights is essential for sustainable development.
They highlighted the importance of strengthening legal mechanisms to eliminate exploitation and ensure justice for labourers.
Participants were given detailed briefings on labour laws, minimum wage regulations, working hours, social security benefits, the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI), and workplace safety standards. The speakers underscored that the Sindh government is actively working towards the formulation and implementation of labour-friendly policies.
At the conclusion of the seminar, informational materials were distributed among the participants, and a commitment was reiterated to continue such initiatives to promote awareness and protection of workers’ rights in the future.
