Azma Bokhari congratulates newly elected PUJ office-bearers

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari on Monday extended heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected office-bearers of the Punjab Union of Journalists (PUJ), expressing best wishes for their future responsibilities.

In a congratulatory message, she lauded the election of President Naeem Hanif, Secretary Qamar Bhatti, and the entire newly elected body, describing PUJ as an institution with a long and proud history of struggle for press freedom and the protection of journalists’ rights.

Azma Bokhari noted that the Punjab Union of Journalists has consistently played a frontline role in highlighting and addressing the challenges faced by the journalist community, effectively representing journalists during difficult times.

Reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment, she said the Punjab government remains fully dedicated to the protection, welfare, and resolution of journalists’ issues. She emphasized that under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, journalists continue to be among the top priorities of the provincial administration, with practical steps being taken to safeguard their interests.

The provincial minister expressed hope that the newly elected PUJ leadership will discharge its duties with sincerity and professionalism, play an active role in protecting journalists’ rights, and contribute to strengthening journalistic values across the province.
