Baidarie holds workshop on legislative review

SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) Baidarie, a non-governmental organization organized a consultative workshop

on legislative review and improvement at four points by Sheraton Lahore under

the project titled “Catalyzing Growth for Women Economic Empowerment in

District Sialkot (Punjab)".

According to Baidarie sources here on Sunday, the workshop brought together

key stakeholders, including government representatives, legal experts, civil society

members, and media professionals, to review important laws, particularly the

Punjab Home-Based Workers Act 2023.

During the session, valuable insights were shared by Dr Javaid Gill, Hina Noureen,

Vice President Baidarie, and Umme Laila Azhar, Executive Director Home Net Pakistan.

The speakers highlighted legislative gaps, challenges in labour law enforcement,

and pathways for promoting women’s economic empowerment.

Participants stressed the urgent need for effective implementation of laws to ensure fair

wages, social protection, and better working conditions, especially for women and home-based

workers.

The workshop concluded with actionable recommendations aimed at promoting gender

equality and strengthening policy implementation for the welfare of women workers.
