Balochistan CM launches heritage restoration, women empowerment and public welfare initiatives in Panjgur

QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Apr, 2026) Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti has announced a series of integrated measures aimed at preserving the province’s cultural heritage, empowering women, and addressing public grievances during his visit to Panjgur.

The initiatives include restoration of historic sites, establishment of skill development centers for women, and new projects to boost local infrastructure and economy, said a CM's Secretariat handouts here Friday.

During the visit, the chief minister inaugurated the restoration and renovation of the shrine of Sufi saint Shaho Qalandar, which had fallen into disrepair.

The project, funded with Rs. 18 million by the provincial government, was executed by Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan South with technical support from institutions including the Walled City of Lahore Authority.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti praised the timely and high-quality completion of the work, calling it a model effort and announced that FC Balochistan (South) will also oversee restoration of other historic landmarks such as Khudabadan Fort in Panjgur and Punnu Fort in Turbat.

In a move to empower women, the chief minister inaugurated the Women Skill Development Center (WSDC) under the FC Balochistan (South) Parwaaz Foundation. The center offers courses in IT, tailoring, embroidery, art, basic healthcare, and religious education.

Classes have already begun for 300 students, with another 280 registered.

To expand capacity, Sarfraz Bugti announced Rs. 1 million monthly support for faculty, Rs. 500,000 for administrative expenses, and an increase in IT lab capacity from 20 to 100 women.

The chief minister also held an open court at the FC headquarters in Panjgur, where he listened to citizens’ concerns and issued immediate directives to officials. He announced the establishment of an olive oil plant to strengthen the local economy, provision of two green buses and one pink bus to improve public transport, and Rs. 10 million for the repair of the terrorism-affected Government Boys Degree College Khudabadan.

He further directed the setting up of an FIA immigration desk at the border crossing and ordered swift resolution of issues arising from the new One Document Regime.

Addressing education, the Chief Minister instructed the provincial education department to resolve problems faced by the University of Makran’s Panjgur campus, reaffirming the government’s commitment to providing quality education and facilities to youth.

He stressed that the provincial government will accelerate development, ensure basic services, create employment opportunities, and safeguard Balochistan’s historic heritage.
