QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) Secretary of Forests and Wildlife Balochistan, Mir Imran Gichki, visited the Wildlife Head Office in Quetta and chaired an important meeting on the protection and management of wildlife across the province.

During the session, Chief Conservator of Wildlife Sharifuddin Baloch briefed the secretary on ongoing initiatives for conservation, survival, and effective management of wildlife. Imran Gichki directed officials to accelerate practical measures for biodiversity protection, stressing that reforms must be implemented in line with the directives of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Provincial Minister for Forests and Wildlife Sardar Masood Khan Luni.

He emphasized a zero-tolerance policy against illegal hunting, destruction of natural habitats, and the growing challenges posed by climate change. Later, the secretary inspected renovation work at the Wildlife Head Office and reviewed departmental performance, ongoing development projects, and field-level challenges.

Commending the department’s efforts, Imran Gichki urged stricter and more effective steps to safeguard endangered species, noting that Balochistan is home to rare and vulnerable wildlife.

He underscored that wildlife is not only part of natural beauty but also a fundamental component of ecological balance.

“Wildlife conservation is directly linked to human survival,” he said, explaining that animals and birds play a vital role in maintaining the food chain, supporting forest regeneration, and reducing environmental pollution. He warned that failure to protect these species would severely disrupt ecosystems, with direct consequences for human life.

The secretary reaffirmed the department’s commitment to intensifying efforts for biodiversity conservation, sustainable use of natural resources, and ensuring a safe environment for future generations. He also visited various sections of the office to review administrative affairs.

The meeting was attended by district wildlife officers, district forest officers, and other relevant officials.
