QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to sustainable development, economic stability, and public welfare through a comprehensive and integrated strategy.

Chairing the eighth meeting of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Board on Wednesday, he emphasized that effective promotion of PPPs ensures speed, quality, and sustainability in development projects, with positive impacts on both the economy and public services.

During the meeting, several key decisions were approved to strengthen sustainable growth, efficient energy use, eco-friendly transport, and private sector participation. A detailed review of various projects was conducted to enhance institutional performance and serve the public interest.

One of the major decisions was to gradually convert Quetta’s ongoing Green and Pink Bus Services into electric buses.

This initiative aims to reduce urban pollution while providing citizens with modern, safe, and comfortable travel facilities. In the energy sector, approval was granted to shift the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to solar power, a move expected to cut costs and promote environmentally friendly policies.

The board also agreed to establish an Insurance Company Limited under a public-private partnership framework.

This venture is expected to create new investment opportunities and strengthen the financial system. Formal proposals from the private sector will be invited soon.

Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said that PPPs are making development projects faster, more effective, and sustainable. He stressed that the government is determined to leverage private sector expertise and investment to deliver modern infrastructure and services across the province. He added that the promotion of eco-friendly transport will significantly reduce urban pollution and improve travel facilities for citizens.

He further reiterated that the adoption of alternative energy sources remains a top priority for the government, with concrete steps already underway. Sarfraz Bugti noted that effective private sector participation will not only stabilize the economy but also generate new employment opportunities, playing a vital role in the province’s overall progress.

The Chief Minister directed relevant authorities to ensure implementation of approved projects and maintain continuous monitoring so that the benefits reach the public without delay.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary (Development and Planning) Zahid Saleem, CEO of the PPP Authority Dr Faisal, and other senior officials.
