Balochistan government disowns notification granting extra perks to retired chief secretaries

QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) The Balochistan government has formally distanced itself from a notification issued during a previous administration that granted additional benefits to retired chief secretaries.

Shahid Rind, Adviser to the Chief Minister on Political and Media Affairs, clarified that the notification was released under the former government, which had also filed an appeal against a related Balochistan High Court ruling at the time. He emphasized that the current provincial government does not agree with the notification in principle.

Shahid Rind underscored that Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, and the provincial cabinet share a unified stance: public resources are a trust of the people and must be spent exclusively on welfare and development.

He noted that the Federal civil services already operate under a defined financial framework of benefits, while Balochistan has its own structured schedule for official perks.

“The present government does not support any additional benefits that place an unnecessary burden on the public treasury,” Rind said, adding that the administration has neither defended the notification nor filed any appeal in its favor.

He reiterated that the government’s position is principled and transparent, stressing that state resources must be used strictly in line with public interest and developmental priorities.
