QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) The Balochistan government has formed a high-level committee to conduct a comprehensive audit of the use and allotment of official vehicles across the province. The move, initiated under the directives of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, aims to ensure transparent and efficient utilization of government resources.
According to the notification issued here Thursday, the committee will be chaired by the Secretary Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), with the Secretary Finance and the Secretary Services, Transport and Administration Department as its members.
The committee has been tasked with auditing vehicles in all administrative departments, attached institutions, autonomous bodies, and subordinate offices. It will examine whether vehicles are being used in accordance with prescribed rules and regulations, and identify cases where vehicles are in excess of entitlement or being used without proper authorization.
The audit will also review instances of misuse, illegal allotment, and unnecessary retention of vehicles. In addition, the committee will propose corrective measures to improve transparency, management, and monitoring, including recommendations for the return or disposal of surplus vehicles.
The notification further said that the committee will review the Balochistan Civil car Rules 1988 and suggest amendments if required to make the system more effective. All government departments have been directed to nominate a Grade-19 focal person within 48 hours to liaise with the committee and provide necessary records and data.
The committee is required to submit a comprehensive report with recommendations to the competent authority within 15 days.
