Banned action committee’s disarmament claims exposed after Rawalakot arrest

The banned Action Committee’s claims of being disarmed have come under question after fresh evidence emerged from Rawalakot, where an arrested alleged operative revealed details of the group’s armed activities and weapons network.

Authorities said video footage and recoveries made during the operation indicate the presence of armed elements linked to the banned group.

The developments came after law enforcement agencies arrested alleged operative Zohaib Khalid during an operation, while a security official was injured in firing allegedly carried out by members of the group.

According to security officials, a video obtained during the investigation shows armed individuals associated with the banned Action Committee carrying multiple weapons in the area.

Authorities alleged that the armed elements were involved in creating unrest and targeting both civilians and security personnel.

During the operation in Rawalakot, law enforcement agencies arrested Zohaib Khalid, an alleged operative of the banned group.

Security officials said Sepoy Ali Abbas sustained serious injuries after coming under fire from suspected members of the group and was shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.

Security officials said the arrested suspect revealed that the leadership of the banned Action Committee had provided modern weapons, including US-made M4 rifles, to its operatives for carrying out violent activities.

Authorities further stated that a US-manufactured M4 rifle was recovered from the possession of the arrested suspect during the operation.

The recovered weapon and video evidence have raised questions over the group’s claims that it had abandoned armed activities.

During questioning, Zohaib Khalid allegedly claimed that the banned Action Committee had set a reward of Rs10 million for killing a Rangers or police personnel.

Security officials said the suspect’s statements, along with the recovered weapon and video evidence, point toward the alleged involvement of armed elements within the group.

Law enforcement agencies are continuing investigations to uncover further details regarding the group’s network, activities, and alleged involvement in violent incidents.

Officials said action against elements involved in creating unrest will continue as part of efforts to maintain law and order.
