Bear goes violent at Swat Zoo after staff's mishandling

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Apr, 2026) A bear at Swat Zoo became violent and attacked staff members, showed a video circulating on social media on Saturday.

According to officials from the Wildlife Department, the animal became enraged after zoo staff allegedly provoked and teased it. The situation quickly escalated, leading to the bear attacking nearby personnel.

Zoo official said the staff members narrowly escaped serious injuries, though panic spread across the zoo premises during the incident.

Trainers intervened to bring the situation under control.

The Wildlife Department has taken notice of the incident and emphasized that proper handling protocols must be strictly followed when dealing with wild animals. An inquiry is expected to determine responsibility and prevent such incidents in the future.
