Beggars throng public places to collect Eidi on Eid-ul-Azha

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th May, 2026) Scores of beggars thronged streets,bazaars,markets and public places across Faisalabad on Wednesday to collect Eidi, alms and sacrificial meat during Eid-ul-Azha celebrations.

Soon after Eid prayers,beggars gathered outside mosques,Eidgahs and open prayer grounds,extending Eid greetings to worshippers while seeking financial assistance from affluent citizens.

Elderly,crippled and differently-abled individuals were seen occupying major intersections,commercial centers and busy roads to attract public attention and receive charity from passersby while many others moved door to door in residential areas seeking Eidi and portions of sacrificial meat.

Citizens distributed cash, food items and meat among deserving people in the spirit of Eid-ul-Azha while underprivileged families collected sacrificial meat for household consumption.

Several beggars were also seen carrying bags and containers to collect meat, offal and remains of sacrificial animals from various localities across the city.

Meanwhile, hides of sacrificial animals were donated to seminaries,welfare organizations and charitable institutions for educational and welfare purposes.

The presence of beggars remained particularly noticeable in commercial markets,parks and recreational spots where families had gathered to celebrate Eid festivities.

Citizens expressed concern over the growing number of professional beggars at public places and urged authorities to take effective steps to curb organized begging and ensure that assistance reached genuinely deserving people through proper channels.

Meanwhile,law enforcement agencies and the district administration remained vigilant during Eid and continued monitoring suspicious activities,illegal collection campaigns and unauthorized fundraizing drives across the city.
