RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) A ceremony was held at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) to mark the International Day for Biological Diversity and World Markhor Day, with speakers emphasising conservation of wildlife and environmental protection.
The event was organized jointly by Snow Leopard Foundation, Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination and the university, and attended by a large number of students, faculty members and government officials.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Director Biodiversity at the ministry, Naeem Ashraf Raja, said that Pakistan’s biodiversity was not only a natural heritage but also vital for food security, water resources and climate stability, urging youth to take responsibility for protecting the environment.
Guest of honour Dr. Syed Mehmood Nasir highlighted that glaciers, forests and mountain ecosystems were under pressure, stressing that conservation of species like snow leopard and markhor was essential to safeguard nature.
