RAWALPINDI:

Police on Tuesday identified the woman whose body had been discovered under mysterious circumstances near a private college in the Gujjar Khan area of Rawalpindi.

The deceased had been identified as 43-year-old Naumana Afzal, a married woman and mother of eight from Lakki Marwat. According to police sources, her identification was confirmed through NADRA records. Following the identification, her husband was summoned by the police.

He revealed that his wife had gone missing from their home in Lakki Marwat two days prior to the discovery of her body.

The body was found by the roadside within the jurisdiction of Gujjar Khan Police Station. After completing the post-mortem examination, the police handed over the body to the family. Initial reports suggest that the woman was apparently strangled to death.

Gujjar Khan police have already registered a murder case on behalf of the state and expanded the scope of their investigation.

Investigation SSP Nasir Ali Khan visited the crime scene, reviewed the progress made so far, and issued further instructions. He directed officers to ensure the immediate arrest of those involved and to conclude the investigation strictly on the basis of facts.
