Breach in Sohrab Canal near Jatoi floods farmland, Rescue teams launch operation

MUZAFFARGARH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Mar, 2026) A breach developed in the Sohrab Canal near Jatoi in Muzaffargarh district on Monday, allowing water to enter nearby agricultural lands and posing a potential threat to surrounding areas.

According to officials of Rescue 1122, emergency teams reached the site immediately after receiving information and started relief operations.

Personnel of the irrigation department are also present at the location and are jointly working with rescue teams to control the situation.

Rescue officials said that the breach in the canal has widened to around 8 to 10 feet, while efforts are underway to reduce the water flow and prevent further damage.

Authorities warned that the breach could pose a risk to nearby settlements if not controlled in time. Rescue teams are actively engaged in emergency response measures while the irrigation department continues efforts to repair the breach
