MUZAFFARABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore on Wednesday emphasized unity within the Muslim Ummah, promotion of peace, and the need for practical steps to address global challenges.
Addressing the sixth Bunyanum Marsoos Conference, organized under the banner of Paigam e Pakistan in Islamabad, AJK Prime Minister Rathore said islam is a religion of moderation, mercy, and tolerance, meant to guide humanity towards the goal of establishing a society deeply rooted in justice, compassion, and unity.
Quoting the Holy Quran, he said, "Allah loves those who fight in His cause, stand united like a solid structure". Referring to last year's war and successful execution of the operation Bunyanum Marsoos, he said the Pakistani nation and its brave armed forces demonstrated a highest degree of unity and resilience in the face of external aggression, and delivered a crushing response to the enemy.
AJK PM Rathore appreciated the leadership of Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, saying that their efforts in bringing economic stability, defence modernization, and diplomacy have not only led to peace and stability in the region but enhanced Pakistan’s prestige and its standing in the Muslim world and beyond.
Highlighting the Kashmir issue, the AJK premier reiterated that the Kashmiri people have been waging a peaceful struggle for their right to self-determination.
He condemned ongoing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including brutal suppression of Kashmiris' political and religious rights.
Calling for cession of state violence in the Indian held territory, he said that it was high time that the UN should play its due role to help Kashmiris secure their promised right guaranteed to them under multiple UNSC resolutions.
He also strongly condemned atrocities in Palestine, including violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque, and expressed complete solidarity with the Palestinian people.
He urged the international community to play a decisive role to stop the bloodbath of innocent civilians in Gaza and other parts of the occupied territory. He thanked the Pakistan Ulema Council for providing an international platform to highlight the true message of Islam.
The prime minister underscored the evolving role of religious scholars, noting that their influence now extends beyond mosques to the digital sphere.
He urged scholars to utilize modern media and education systems to promote the true teachings of Islam and counter challenges such as Islamophobia.
He stressed that education is not all about seeking degrees; its focus should be on character-building. "Besides imparting modern education, it is imperative to teach moral values to the young generation and inculcate in them a sense of responsibility", he added.
Highlighting the Ulema’s role in character-building, he warned that a lack of proper guidance can lead to extremism. He emphasized the importance of guiding youth towards positive thinking and strong character, describing them as the foundation of a strong society. Extremism, he said, is born in absence of knowledge.
Stressing the need for broader unity across different schools of thought, PM Faisal Rathore said Islam promotes harmony and discourages division.
Reiterating commitment to interfaith harmony and global peace, the prime minister said Islam teaches respect for all religions and encourages dialogue and tolerance in an increasingly diverse world. He also highlighted the need for advancement in science, technology, and education, stating that without progress in these fields, the Muslim world cannot effectively safeguard its rights at the global level.
He reaffirmed AJK’s continued support for Pakistan in achieving these goals. In his concluding remarks the AJK premier called for moving beyond rhetoric to practical action. He expressed hope that the conference would mark the beginning of meaningful progress toward Muslim unity, peace, and justice for Palestine and Kashmir. He also welcomed distinguished guests from Palestine, noting that their presence added special significance to the conference.
