Bus catches fire near Wazirabad Bypass on GT Road

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Apr, 2026) A passenger bus caught fire near Wazirabad Bypass on GT Road on Saturday; however, no casualties were reported as all passengers were safely evacuated.

According to a spokesperson of the National Highways and Motorway Police, the bus was en route from Lahore to Rawalpindi when the fire erupted, reportedly due to a short circuit.

Upon receiving the information, Motorway Police officials promptly reached the scene and initiated rescue efforts.

The fire was brought under control in a timely manner due to swift action by the personnel, preventing any loss of life.

All passengers were safely evacuated from the bus and later shifted to their destination through alternate transport arrangements.

The Motorway Police ensured effective handling of the situation and facilitated the passengers to continue their journey without further inconvenience.
