BWMC launches special cleanliness drive for Easter, Good Friday

BAHAWALPR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Apr, 2026) In line with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Bahawalpur Waste Management Company (BWMC) has successfully launched a special cleanliness operation across the city on the occasion of Good Friday and Easter, which will continue through Easter Day.

According to CEO BWMC Naeem Akhtar, extraordinary sanitation arrangements are being carried out, particularly around churches, places of worship, and residential areas of the Christian community. Thorough cleaning of surrounding areas, as well as entry and exit points of churches, has been ensured. In addition, washing of premises and decorative lime application have been completed to provide a clean, hygienic, and welcoming environment for worshippers.

Special teams of the company are actively engaged in the prompt removal of waste and debris from minority localities using machinery. Cleaning operations, including washing of streets and church surroundings, are ongoing, while additional sanitation staff has been deployed to maintain high standards through continuous monitoring.

In view of Easter celebrations on Sunday, comprehensive and effective cleanliness arrangements have been made across the city to ensure that the Christian community is provided with the best possible sanitation facilities and to promote religious harmony.

Chief Executive Officer of BWMC Muhammad Naeem Akhtar, along with Senior Manager Operations Muhammad Imtiazullah, visited various churches in the city to review the cleanliness arrangements. He directed field staff to remain on high alert and ensure that sanitation standards are maintained without any compromise. The CEO further stated that all contractors across Bahawalpur Division have been formally instructed to ensure high standards of cleanliness during Good Friday and Easter. Special directions have also been issued for maintaining zero-waste arrangements at churches, markets, parks, and recreational areas. He emphasized that providing a clean, safe, and healthy environment for the minority community is the company’s top priority, and all available resources are being utilized to achieve this goal.
