C&W Minister directs field officers to intensify supervision of road projects

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jun, 2026) Punjab Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth on Wednesday

directed officers to ensure strict quality monitoring of all completed and under-construction roads under

the Local Road Programme.

He expressed the government’s commitment to completing the initiative within the month of June.

He was chairing a meeting to review progress on the Local Road Programme and quality monitoring of

ongoing highway projects.

The meeting was attended by Secretary C&W Raja Jahangir Anwar, special secretary, additional secretaries and chief engineers, while superintending engineers (SEs) and executive engineers (XENs) participated online.

During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on completed and ongoing road projects under the programme. The minister was informed that efforts were underway to complete all projects within the stipulated timeline.

On the occasion, Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth said the quality and standards of all roads completed or under construction under the Local Road Programme would be closely monitored across the province.

He directed chief engineers, SEs and XENs to remain in the field instead of offices to ensure effective supervision of development works.

The minister said officers and special teams from the C&W Head Office would conduct regular quality inspections and submit detailed reports, while third-party evaluations would also be carried out to ensure transparency and adherence to standards.

He warned that strict action would be taken in cases of negligence or use of substandard construction material. He directed all SEs to personally inspect the quality of projects in their respective divisions and instructed field officers to update the monitoring dashboard on a timely basis.

Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth said the Highway Department would complete all projects with transparency and quality. He added that, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, infrastructure development across the province was being further strengthened to improve public facilities and connectivity.
